STUDIO ALOOF

A refuge for artists in the middle of a high alpine forest. The cubature is reminiscent of a tree stump and through the mirrored roof surfaces, the triangular construction disappears into the trees.

The idea from the beginning was to build a studio space, which offers a person space to work and to withdraw completely from the outside world. For this purpose we found a rock, which rises about 30 m above the river bank, 12 m high out of the steep forest floor.

In order to do justice to our use as a studio, a high room height was created, but without using too much of the relatively tightly defined cubic meters. After lengthy shape studies, we thus arrived at the extruded triangular shape that adapts to the slope.

The studio is accessible from below through the floor plate via Rope ladder accessible. At the top, you pull the rope ladder and is therefore completely separated from the Outside world cut off. This act of retreat will through the camouflage effect of the two completely mirrored lateral facade surfaces are reinforced. The user of the studios thus practically disappears in nature.  aloof = inaccessible.

InteriorThe interior could be ideally divided into the three areas of use for our design. Namely into workroom, storage room, which can be used from the workroom as well as from the terrace and as third the

Area in yellow for cooking, toilet and sleeping place.

To realize our form at this special place, a truss construction was chosen, which is Integral connectors connected to each other and connected by steel rods is carrying its load into the rock.
